RPP to sponsor Commercial Fit-out of the Year at 2017 Belfast Telegraph Property Awards
The creative team of architects and designers at renowned local firm RPP Architects marked a major milestone this year by celebrating 40 years of practice in Belfast and Londonderry.
Led by four experienced directors, Harry McConnell, Peter McGirr, Simon Robinson and Alan Shields, RPP Architects is one of Northern Ireland’s longest-standing architectural firms.
It is based in a striking four-storey red brick building on the doorstep of Belfast’s historic Gasworks, on Donegall Pass, and also has an office on Derry’s Clarendon Street.
The firm works across diverse sectors within Northern Ireland, the UK and internationally, including commercial, healthcare, retail, education, community and transport projects, as well as designing beautiful bespoke homes for its clients.
RPP Architects creates buildings of all sorts, from small-scale projects to landmark civic buildings and has a number of easily recognisable buildings on the Belfast cityscape in its portfolio, including the McClay Library at Queen’s University, the Bank of Ireland headquarters on Donegall Square and the Europa Hotel.
In 2015, the firm was awarded a prestigious RIBA Award for Old See House, a community mental health resource centre in north Belfast. Current projects include a brand new waterside Marriott hotel at City Quays, the 120,000 sq ft Belfast Harbour Film Studios at Giants Park, the Hastings Group’s Grand Central Hotel, The Ebrington Hotel in Derry and the new 80-bed mental health inpatient unit at Belfast City Hospital.
The firm is also working extensively in the residential sector with its Bespoke Homes section designing private homes, extensions, refurbishments and interiors.
Unlike other architects, RPP offers a dedicated interior design team, assisting with key choices in the design process, from selecting a site, to landscaping, choosing paint colours, lighting layouts, fabric choices, designing pieces of furniture, staircases and bookshelves.
The company has also provided in the region of £100m of social housing and community regeneration schemes across Northern Ireland as well as extensive student housing in north and south Belfast.
In November the firm will be playing its part in the 2017 Belfast Telegraph Property Awards as sponsors of the commercial fit-out award category.
Managing director Harry McConnell said: “It is a real honour for RPP Architects to sponsor the commercial fit-out of the year category in the 2017 Belfast Telegraph Property Awards.
“Commercial fit-outs form an important area of our own business – particularly hotels, retail and office accommodation.
“We understand and appreciate the level of commitment required, throughout both the design and construction stages, to deliver the very highest quality product.”
