RPP Architects, in association with Hawkins\Brown Architects, are part of the Design Team working with Queen’s University Belfast to redevelop this important area of the campus and create an accessible facility that will be the heartbeat of life on campus, facilitating increased engagement with the whole student body and significantly enhancing the student experience. This ambitious and exciting project provides a significant opportunity to replace existing facilities and create a holistic, cutting edge facility.
The new Student Centre will:
- Provide a gateway for student-facing, nonacademic services on campus.
- Provide an environment conducive to meeting the needs of all students.
- Optimise the strong partnership between the Students’ Union and the University, linking both sets of services, whilst recognising and facilitating both partners’ distinct roles in supporting students to make the most of their time at Queen’s.
- Support a range of student life experiences, promoting social inclusion and facilitating informal interaction with regular and ad-hoc events and activities.
This ambitious and exciting project provides an opportunity to redevelop and expand existing facilities and create a holistic, cutting edge approach to service provision that will enable interaction with every student.
The new Student Centre is due to open in the 2021/2022 academic year. You can view the draft proposals, further information on the QUB website.
